Parliament IT Department develops new web portal for public

Users allowed to actively engage with Parliamentary Committees:

A digital platform to connect the public with the National Council Sub Committee on Economic Stabilization of Parliament was launched yesterday (8) in Parliament.

A portal developed by the Parliamentary Information Systems and Management Department aimed at enhancing and encouraging the communication, especially between the younger citizens and the legislature.

The web portal was officially launched by the chairperson of National Council Sub Committee on Economic Stabilization Patali Champika Ranawaka and the Director of the Department of Information Systems and Management (DISM) Mahesh Perera.

The Department’s Director Mahesh Perera explained to the media that the project will swing in to full action in four steps. Once completed users can engage with the Parliamentary Committees by perusing all the documents and publications by the committee as well as returning their comments and suggestions after registering themselves on the portal. The Parliamentary Web interface does not require any third-party application to connect, and all users can simply access the page via the web. The designing and implementation of the web was done by the Department of Information Systems and Management of the Parliament free.
