The Chairman of the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GSMB) Dr. Senarath Hewage has been relieved of his duties while its Director General Eng D. Sajjana De Silva has been sent on compulsory leave over alleged charges of corruption against these two officials. Several allegations had been levelled against them last month.

Public servants should perform their service for the country with dedication and those involved in fraud, corruption and irregularities were immediately removed  from office in the past as well. Also, if information is received that any government employee is involved in fraud, corruption and irregularities, authorities will remove them from their positions with immediate effect, highly placed sources said.
