COVID restrictions annulled for tourists

No vaccination certificate, pre-boarding PCR tests needed

The Health Ministry has removed restrictions enforced during the COVID-19 pandemic for persons travelling to Sri Lanka from overseas.

Health Services Director General Dr. Asela Gunawardena in a letter to relevant authorities said “Preventive measures for persons arriving from overseas during the pandemic of COVID-19 is cancelled”.

Accordingly, the requirement to produce COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate by any person arriving to Sri Lanka via any airport or sea port is removed.

The requirement to produce a pre-boarding or on arrival negative COVID-19 test (PCR/RAT) by any person arriving to Sri Lanka via any airport or seaport too is annulled. If foreign nationals, tourists become COVID-19 positive after arriving in Sri Lanka, they should be isolated for seven days in a private hospital, hotel or a place of residence.

The cost of treatment or isolation should be borne by foreign nationals or tourists.
