International Leo Day to be held under President’s patronage

A special function will be held on December 11 in commemoration of International Leo Day, under the patronage of President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Navarangahala, Royal College, Colombo.International Leo Club 306C 2 Leo District is organizing this commemorative function.

About 2500 young people are going to participate in this event representing Leo clubs which are based on schools, universities and youth organizations from Colombo to Batticaloa.Arrangements have been made to hold an exhibition which will include projects implemented by Leo Clubs from the year 1967 and planned future projects as well as achievements obtained internationally by Leo members of Sri Lanka, in conjunction with this and a number of stalls from the National Youth Services Council, the Sri Lanka Vocational Training Authority, the Solar Energy Authority and private universities will be included in this exhibition and they arescheduled to provide information to young men and women.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe is to recruit 6,500 new members to the 306C 2 Leo District.

Apart from this, the main prefects of schools where 306C 2 Leo Societies have been established will also be subject to appreciation on this occasion.Minister of Education Susil Premjayantha, Senior Advisor to the President Sagala Ratnayaka, State Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Rohana Dissanayake, International Lions Club 306C2 President Bennet Gamlath, former International President Mahendra Amarasuriya, International Director Mahesh Pasqual, International Leo Program Advisor Lasantha Gunawardana and many others are due to participate in this event.
