According to the Akmeemana Police, 14 student teachers who were injured in an altercation between two groups of teacher trainees at the Akmeemana Ruhuna National College of Education yesterday (26) have been admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital. A group of final year student teachers who are undergoing training at this College of Education located in Akmeemana Kuruduwatte after returning to the faculty the previous night had attacked a group of second year teaching students after an argument.
Fourteen second year student teachers were injured. A group of about 40 student teachers were involved in the attack, it is reported. The Deputy Dean of the Faculty has lodged a complaint with the Police about this assault and a team from the Akmeemana police station is conducting further investigations.
