Ministry not decided on teacher’s dress issue

The Education Ministry has not come to a final decision on taking disciplinary action against the teachers who reported to work wearing casual dresses other than sarees, Education Ministry Secretary M. N. Ranasinghe said.

He told Daily News that future action against them will be decided after discussing with the Provincial and Zonal Educational Directors.

He also said the Public Administration Circular issued by the Public Administration Ministry Secretary allowing public sector employees to wear suitable and comfortable dresses to work will be amended by the Secretary.

A considerable number of teachers had reported to work wearing comfortable dresses other than the saree on Monday (21).
