Cabinet Paper to be submitted soon

Senior Adviser to the President on Climate Change Ruwan Wijewardene said that the Cabinet Paper on the establishment of a General Secretariat on Climate Change will be submitted to the Cabinet within a week.

Wijewardene said that a Bill related to Climate Change will also be presented to Parliament. He said this will cover areas such as preparation of laws and regulations related to how Sri Lanka faces Climate Change and how to manage it.

He said that this work will be done after the President returns to Sri Lanka after visiting Egypt.

Wijewardene was speaking to the media before leaving for Egypt to participate in the “COP 27” conference on Climate Change. President Ranil Wickremesinghe and his delegation left for Egypt yesterday (06).
