The Weeragula Police on Saturday (05) arrested a man who sent pictures of his two young girls with ropes around their necks to a relative via WhatsApp.
The suspect is a resident of a village belonging to the Weeragula Police division.
It has been revealed in preliminary police investigations that the suspect’s wife left him sometime back and he has been taking care of the two girls, aged 10 and five, since then.
After the suspect had sent pictures to the relative, investigations were conducted and he was arrested based on the relative’s complaint. It has not yet been revealed whether the suspect’s actions were done to intimidate or to commit another crime.
The police are investigating.
