Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Minister Vidura Wickramanayake says that a crucial discussion regarding the electricity bills of sacred places will be held today (28) with Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara.
The Minister said in the face of the current economic situation, alternative systems to control the cost of electricity should be found.
The Minister made this statement while speaking to the media when he came to observe the conservation programme of the ancient frescoes at the Hindagala Temple in Kandy. He said that a programme is being implemented to generate electricity in sacred places including temples by using solar energy and it is planned to implement this programme in all sacred places of worship from next year.
