National Security and Democracy should be protected - Namal

Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa yesterday said that even certain political parties assisted rebellious elements in their attempt to take over Parliament. He said that everyone saw that members of those parties were present near Parliament when these anti-democratic forces attempted to take over Parliament. Parliamentarian Rajapaksa was expressing his views at a media briefing in Kandy on Sunday.

He emphasized that National Security and Democracy in this country should be protected and if by chance rebels do enter and make Parliament their playground, democracy would be buried.

Rajapaksa further said that it is the President’s responsibility to ensure the country’s National Security and that several important places like the area surrounding Parliament as High Security Zones.

He said that a Government of a country should be appointed not through rebellions but through the democratic system and if any party attempts to grab power through violence and rebellion, it would not prove to be successful.
