The Sri Lanka Embassy in Jordan partnered with the Academy of Design (AOD) in Sri Lanka to organize a virtual Workshop to showcase and impart innovative design and marketing techniques taught at the Academy of Design, for Jordanian students at the Garment Design Training Services Centre in Amman. The Garment Design Training Services Centre is run under the auspices of the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO), which was established in 2003 by the Council of Ministers.

Ambassador Shanika Dissanayake in her opening address highlighted that the Workshop was initiated by the Embassy to enable aspiring Jordanian designers to draw from the wealth of design experience that Sri Lankan designers possess. The team for the Workshop led by General Manager Ishara Wijemanne highlighted the work of three of their Alumna, namely Lonali Rodrigo of House of Lonali, Kasuni Rathnasuriya/ founder of the Kur collection in New York and Amesh Wijesekera, who have all been successful in marketing their creations both locally and globally.

Founder of Flabulous, Ranjula Herath conducted an insightful interactive question and answer session with the Jordanian students to guide them on developing their creative and strategic thinking in the fashion industry for a thriving and impactful career in this field. The Workshop held on September 13, is part of a series of cultural activities planned by the Embassy to elevate cultural ties between Sri Lanka and Jordan.
