Independent MPs must have right to speak in House - Sajith

The Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa questioned if the government is not allowing the 13 independent MPs to speak in the House in fear of them or because MP Dullas Alahapperuma challenged the President in Parliament.

Premadasa said that Sri Lanka is in the midst  of international concerns while the government is depriving the independent MPs of their right to speech.

Meanwhile, the Opposition Leader pointed out that people are burdened by the high electricity tariff. He pointed out many religious establishments are facing difficulties in paying the bills due to increased charges. He noted that with a comprehensive renewable energy plan, important institutions can be given relief upon high electricity expenses.

The Opposition Leader also criticised the government for failing to provide essential medicines and equipment to hospitals.Premadasa pointed out that many cancer patients are at risk due to lack of necessary treatments.
