Change of policy for NZ visa applications

New Zealand has changed its policy on temporary visa applications temporarily removing the requirement for most applications to provide a physical passport.

New Zealand’s Immigration said a high-quality scanned copy of the passport should be submitted instead.New Zealand High Commissioner Michael Appleton said that this change of policy also applies to Sri Lankans applying for temporary visas to enter.

“This is a temporary measure to help with visa processing. An Immigration Officer may still ask for a physical passport if they consider it necessary for the application. This will be on a case-by-case basis. Even if you are eligible for a passport-free application process, we may need to see your passport to confirm your identity. If we need to see your passport, we will contact you,” the Immigration Office said.
