Tourism income nearly US$ 900 Mn in 8 months

During the period from January to August this year, the income earned from the Tourism Industry has reached nearly US$ 900 million.

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka points out that the income earned from the Tourism Industry in the month of August is US$67.9 million and the income obtained in the previous seven months was US$825 million.

Accordingly, Sri Lanka’s income from the Tourism Industry in the first eight months of this year is US$892.8 million.

Compared to last year’s income from the Tourism Industry, Sri Lanka has been able to increase its income this year and the reason for this is the increase in the number of foreign tourists and the implementation of various programmes by the Government and other organisations to attract more tourists,” the CBSL said,
