14-year-old boy surrenders after knocking down 73-year-old motorbike rider

The Kahathuduwa Police said that a car driven by a 14-year-old student collided with the motorbike ridden by a 73-year-old private tuition teacher at the Kahathuduwa City of Life Housing Complex causing serious injuries to the teacher.

The student who fled after the accident was arrested by Police after he surrendered through a lawyer.

Police say that the student who was driving the car after the accident instead of inquiring about the injured man was checking the damage caused to his car. After some villagers arrived at the location he had admitted the injured teacher to the Wetera Hospital and had fled. The seriously injured teacher was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital in a critical condition after receiving initial treatment at the Wetara Hospital.

Police say that legal action will also be taken against the father, the registered owner of the car, who allowed the 14-year-old student to use it. The suspect is a student of a leading school in Colombo. He is to be produced in Courts.
