K.M.D Dharshana set up under 20 400m hurdles new record at the Sri John Tarbet Athletic meet which is now in progress at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium.
Dharshana from Ambagamuwa Central really performed well at the 400 m hurdles while T. Mendis of Lyceum International School Wattala established a new meet record for boys under 16 high jump event with a record jump of 1.96m.
In addition, the girls’ section Gampaha Holy Cross athlete N. Hettiarachchi set up under 20 triple jump new record of 12.79m.
National Junior athlete Tharushi Karunaratne of Walala A Ratnayake Central won the girls under 20 800 m event clocking 2 minutes 14.54 seconds.
The event is conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Athletic Association while Ceylon Biscuits Ltd makers of Ritzburey sponsored. Today is the final day of the four-day event.
