The 21st annual Royal- Thomian Hockey encounter will be played for the Orville Abeynaike trophy on the 17th of September 2022 at the Astro Turf , Reid Avenue Colombo- 07 , commencing at 1pm onwards. Under 16 match at 1 pm Over 35 match at 2 pm Old boys match at 3 pm and1st X1 match at 4 pm.
The tally of the match results since the trophy encounter began, S Thomas College has won nine times, Royal College has won six times and five matches drawn. In 2020 and 2021 the encounter had to be cancelled due to the Covid 19 pandemic. Amitha Abeynaike, a famous commentator and a live wire behind this encounter, also the president of the Old Thomian Hockey Union and the Captain of the College 1st X1 team in 1984/1985 will be the Chief guest for this encounter.
