State Minister of Defence Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon paid respect to the nation’s War Heroes while placing floral tributes at the National War Heros Cenotaph in Sri Jayawardenepura, Kotte on Wednesday.
The State Minister also visited the ‘Mihindu Seth Medura' situated in Attidiya housing the Differently-able War Veterans who are being cared for.
He also took time to exchange pleasantries with the inmate war veterans and presented gifts while inquiring into their well-being.
The ‘Mihindu Seth Medura', is a healing home for War Veterans who were disabled during the terrorist conflict and is a 'Home Away From Home' for the gravely disabled War Heroes requiring continuous care, attention and assistance.
State Minister Tennakoon assumed duties as the new State Minister of Defence at the State Ministry of Defence situated at the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) premises in Colombo.
Senior military officers including Deputy Chief of Staff of Army Maj. Gen. Channa Weerasooriya was present during the State Minister’s visit to Mihindu Seth Medura.
