Three people including a female and two males were arrested by the Agalawatta police yesterday (15) in relation to a murder by an acid attack. The female suspect is the wife of the victim and the other two males suspects are her brother and an uncle. Victim’s wife is a lawyer. The victim, who had faced an acid attack inside his house, had suffered major injuries on August 24 and was admitted to the National Hospital. The victim passed away yesterday (14). The victim was one K.A. Upul Thushara, 42, a resident of Kekulandala, Agalawatta. He had been employed in a foreign country, police revealed.
Agalawatta police had arrested the three suspects at an earlier instance on August 7 and produced them before the Mathugama magistrate. They were released on bail of Rs. 1 mn each. They were arrested following a complaint lodged by the victim’s sister. The suspected wife had told the police that her husband threw acid on himself. The suspects are to be produced before the Mathugama Magistrate.
