Majical Sanath helps Sri Lanka legends to crush England legends

Sanath Jayasuriya ended with superb figure of 4 for 3 as Sri Lanka legends recorded an easy seven wickets win over England with 33 balls to spare at the Road Safety World Cricket Series fixture played at Kanpur, in India yesterday.

It was a good team effort by Sri Lankans legends while Sanath Jayasuriya was leading the way with taking 4 for 3.

Sri Lanka chasing a target of 79 runs reached 79 for 3 wickets in just 14.3 overs. Skipper T. M. Dilshsn was out for 15 in 21 balls with two fours while Dilshan Munaweera (24) and Upul Tharanga (23) made a fine 39 runs second wicket stand. Jeewan Mendis made brisk 8 in 4 balls with a six guided their back to back second victory in this series. Sanath Jayasuriya was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Earlier England legends invited to bat first but they were unable to make their runs easily with tide bowling by Sri Lankan legends from the biginning.

The openers skipper Ian Bell (15) and Phil Mustard (14) added 25 runs in seven overs while that was the only successful partnership for English legends.

England were able to get only six fours throughout the innings while left arm Orthodox bowler the 53 year old veteran Sanath Jayasuriya once again came back with superb performance to grab his best figures of this format ended with very economical figures of 4 for 3 overs in his four overs with two madien overs.

The paceman Nuwan Kulasekera and leggie Chaturanga de Silva also played a good supporting role to pick two wickets each as England were 78 all out with one over to spare.

In fact Jayasuriya used his vast experience to get wickets and put huge pressure on England side.

Today (14) India legends and West Indies legends will meet at the same venue while world two leading batters Brian Lara and Sachin Thendulkar will be in action at this legends cricket series.
