Parliament adjourned early, National Council not presented

The Speaker decided to adjourn Parliament early yesterday (9) as the proposal to establish the National Council was not presented to the House. House will meet again on September 20.

The proceedings, which commenced at 9.30 in the morning only lasted for 24 minutes.

There were only ten MPs presented at the Chamber. Representing the Opposition, only the Chief Organizer of the Opposition MP Lakshman Kiriella was present. The House was to move the condolence debate on Polonnaruwa district SLPP MP late Amarakirthi Athukorale who was killed during the public riots a few months back in Nittambuwa.
