Visas ready for 1,125 workers to Korea - Minister

Labour and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara yesterday said visas are ready to send 1,125 Sri Lankans to South Korea fast and 250 workers will be sent to Korea per week.

The Minister expressed these views at a meeting with a group of Korean job seekers at the Foreign Employment Bureau.

Officials of the Korean Human Resources Department and the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau also participated.

The Minister said that the necessary steps have already been taken to prevent the delays in applying for visas for Korean job seekers and for that purpose steps have been taken to provide the Foreign Employment Bureau officials with targets and incentives. The Minister said that a new centre with more facilities will be provided to conduct Korean exams, and that he is negotiating with the Korean Human Resources Department to increase Korean job opportunities in the coming year.
