Mother arrested over brutal murder of child

Police yesterday began a comprehensive investigation into an incident where a seven year old girl has been thrown into a gem pit alive when she fell unconscious following an assault on her by her mother and her paramour.

Delwala police said that this child had become unconscious after both of them assaulted her. Later they had wrapped her in a polythene and put her into an abandoned gem pit.

Police arrested two suspects over this murder. The mother of the child is also among the suspects.However her paramour, an army deserter had fled the area and police investigations are under way to arrest him.
