Rape attempt: Sevanagala OIC gets bail

Embilipitiya Magistrate A. A. P. Lakshman ordered the release of the OIC of the Sevanagala police who was accused of molesting and attempting to rape an apprentice Women’s Police Constable (WPC) on two surety bails of Rs.200,000 each yesterday.

The suspect K.V.P.C. Deepal was remanded till yesterday by the Magistrate on August 28. Police arrested the suspect over a complaint lodged by the victimized WPC claiming that he had attempted to rape her by giving her a brew of boiled water mixed with Cannabis.

The case will be taken up again on September 16.
