Five remanded for gang raping a girl

Five suspects including an Army deserter who were arrested for the allegedly gang raping a 14 year old student in Arukwatte,  Pinnawala in the Padukkka area were remanded till September 22 after being produced before the Avissawella Magistrate. Padukka police arrested the suspects based on the information given by the victim investigations into this incident commenced based on the complaint made by the child. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the girl in question had an affair with one of the young men. According to the police, it is revealed that the girl had gone to the Padukka Wavulkelle area on a invitation by a young man where the other four had also joined them.
