Gang fleeing after club attack arrested

A group of six persons had stormed Lakhiru Sevana housingcomplex at Maithree Vihara road in Dematagoda carrying swords and clubs in two three-wheelers and attacked a man and his sister causing serious injuries to them.

However the Police have managed to arrest the gang while they were fleeing the area. The Police have also took into custody, two three wheelers, four swords, three machetes and clubs from their possession. The two persons who were injured following the incident have been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital. Preliminary investigations have revealed the injured man is also engaged in drug trafficking.

Police said that attack has been carried out due to a dispute related to the drug trade.
