Perpetual Treasuries Limited Director Arjun Aloysius has been released on bail by Colombo Additional Magistrate T. N. L. Ilangasinghe yesterday.
He was released on a surety of Rs.7.5 million.
This was in relation to a case filed by the Inland Revenue Department over the evasion of paying income tax of Rs.5,328,428,555.00. The Inland Revenue Department had filed the case against Perpetual Treasuries Limited in 2021.
However, the Chairman of the Perpetual Treasuries Limited, Jeffry Joseph Aloysius was not present before Court yesterday. President’s Counsel Rienzie Arsecularatne informed the Magistrate that the respondents have not received notices regarding the said court case. Accordingly,the Magistrate issued notice on Jeffry Joseph Aloysius to appear before Court on next calling date and fixed further inquiries for October 03.
