A 28 year old youth died in a shooting opposite the Balapitiya Base Hospital yesterday evening.
According to Police sources the victim was going towards the Galle when he was fired at by two unidentified men who also came behind him in a motorcycle, opposite the Balapitiya base hospital.
The gunmen had fled the area following the shooting. The victim who has been identified as Madura Kasun Gunathilake is resident of Galagoda and police suspect that the rivalry between two underworld gangsters in the area has resulted in the murder.
Police said that five shooting incidents were reported from the area during the last four weeks. Six persons died in these shootings.
Special Task Force along with the Ambalangoda police began a search for the gunmen yesterday evening
