Suspect’s wife remanded for passing him tobacco

The wife of a suspect was arrested by police and prison officers when she tried to pass a parcel of tobacco to the suspect at the Kandy Court on Tuesday.

Kandy Chief Magistrate Srinith Wijesekara sentenced her to a three-month jail period when she pleaded guilty before the Court.

She is a resident of Kalugalawatte, Katugastota. The Police said she had been punished for similar offences in the past.
