The Defence Ministry has lifted the ban imposed on six Tamil diaspora organizations and 316 individuals.
The Sri Lankan government had imposed the ban on these organizations previously over various involvements with the Banned LTTE.
The Ministry said the amendment to the list of designated persons was made under Regulation 4(7) of the United Nations Regulations No.1 of 2012.
Accordingly, the ban on the Tamil Coordinating Committee, the World Tamil Movement, the Transnational Government Of Tamil Eelam, the National Council of Canadian Tamil, and two other organisations have been lifted from August 1.
