PC interdicted over tusker’s murder

The Police Constable who was accused of electrocuting the Barana tusker was interdicted on the instructions of the Anuradhapura Senior Superintendent of Police. 

This PC in questioned was charged of electrocuting the tusker that was hovering around the Kalawewa, Namal Uyana and adjacent areas for years. He was released on bail after being produced in court.

This Police Constable attached to the Galkiriyagama police fled the area following the incident.He was arrested after he surrendered to the Galkiriyagama Wildlife Office on August 6.

Veterinary surgeon Isuru Hewakottage who conducted the autopsy confirmed the tusked had died after being electrocuted. He had reported the tusker is about 30 years and the height is above 9 feet
