SLTPB optimistic of million arrivals for 2022

Sri Lanka Tourism is expecting close to one million tourists in 2022, Chairman Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, (SLTPB) Chalaka D. Gajabahu said.

He said that they see destinations like Spain moving to be among the top five destinations for Sri Lanka Tourism along with countries like India, UK, France and Germany. He also said that in a bid to promote tourism arrivals especially from the region they appointed cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya as their brand ambassador. “We hope to have more promotions with him firstly in India, Bangladesh and Pakistan and then move with him to New Zealand, Australia and UK who are all cricket playing countries.”

He will be working with us on a completely voluntary basis.

“We also hope to promote sports tourism in a big way and this is one reason we got involved with the Masters Hockey team bound for the world cup in London. We are also the main sponsor of the Sri Lanka team bound for 2022 World Cup in England from August 12 to 22.

Nippon Paints Lanka Ltd is also a sponsor for the team.
