Four fuel ships from India here in July

Sri Lanka will bring four fuel ships from India in July to overcome an acute fuel scarcity in the country, Government sources said.

These fuel supplies which will include two diesel ships and two petrol ships will be brought after paying money for them unlike the recent fuel purchases from India which were under a credit line, sources said. Meanwhile on Monday Sri Lankan High Commission in India said New Delhi

has responded positively to a request made by Sri Lanka for more supplies of petrol and diesel on an urgent basis. The request had been made by High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to India Milinda Moragoda from the Indian Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Housing and Urban Affairs of India Hardeep Singh Puri yesterday. Government sources said Singapore too may supply petrol to Sri Lanka as talks in this regard have been largely successful.
