The Badulla SLTB Deport Superintendent said that the depot has had to remove 56 long-distance buses due to the shortage of tyres.
He said that 117 buses have been deployed for long-distance transport service, yet only half of the half of the fleet is in operation.
The season tickets for public servants and school students have been issued, but due to the shortage of buses they face difficulties.
The Superintendent said that due to the shortage of tyres, more buses will have to be removed from operation. The staff of the Depot engaged in a protest at the depot, demanding tyres for their buses.
