Motorcyclist run over by truck in petrol queue

A youth was run over by a container truck yesterday morning while he was waiting in a fuel station queue to get petrol for his motorbike.

“The youth was on his way to the Immigration and Emigration office in Vavuniya to obtain a passport when he met with his unfortunate death,” Anuradhapura Police said.

The victim has been identified as M.B. Ravishan Madhuranga, 19, of Thalakolawewa in Thambuttegama.

The accident had taken place at the petrol queue at the Pandulagama petrol station on the Puttalam-Anuradhapura A12 Road near the Pandulagama clock tower.

According to Police, the container truck had grazed the youth’s motorbike resulting in the yout’s death.
