The Austin Buddhist temple in Pflugerville, Austin, Texas, USA recently conducted its annual Vesak-Poson Festival with the participation of several Sri Lankans domiciled in Austin, Texas.

This annual event is a very significant occasion for Sri Lankan children who were living in the United States with their parents since most of them have never experienced such a colourful festival outside their Motherland.

The festival was organised by Sri Lankan expatriates under the guidance of Austin Buddhist Viharaya Chief Incumbent Rajakeeya Panditha Ven. Udumulle Saranapala Thera with the participation of several Buddhist Monks who are currently attached to other Buddhist temples in Texas.

The temple premises were decorated with Buddhist flags and American flags. In addition several other religious rituals including dairy food offerings, Dhamma Sermons, Alms-Givings, Sil and Meditation programmes and Special Poojas were also conducted. A Dansala was also held.
