Yasitha de Silva continued with his outstanding form as he clinched the Men’s Doubles title along with partner Dhilvan Herath at the 107th Colombo Open Tennis Tournament, which continued at the SLTA Courts in Green Path, Colombo yesterday.
The bottom seeds rallied around magnificently and went on to beat the third seed combination of Ashen Silva and Srinath Udayachandran in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 respectively.
Meanwhile, Risith Somaratne and Yuhansa Peiris produced a fine performance to clinch the Boys’ Under-12 Singles and Girls’ Under-12 Singles title respectively.
The top seed Somaratne of Ananda College lived up to expectations and went on to beat the bottom seed Ashin de Silva in the Boys’ Under-12 final in an exciting three-setter 3-6, 7-5, 11-9.
In addition, the seventh seed Yuhansa Peiris of Bishop’s College created a major upset by overcoming the bottom seed Annaya Norbet 6-4, 6-2 in the Girls’ Under-12 final encounter.
