Man dies of exhaustion after fuel ordeal

A 42-year-old person from Bandaragama died of a heart attack after he returned home after standing in the fuel queue for one and a half days on Monday (20).

He had left home to obtain fuel for his three-wheeler on June 18 and had returned on the 20th, when he had stated that he was having chest pains. Later, he was first admitted to the Bandaragama hospital and then to the Horana Base Hospital where he died.

The deceased Gayan Shasika is a father of one, who lived in Gorokgas Junction, Wewita, Bandaragama.

However, it was reported that the patient could have been saved if preliminary treatment was performed by the medical staff of the Bandaragama hospital.
