Sembukulama villagers in Thirappane captured a crocodile that came near a house in the village on Monday night.
This six-and-a-half-foot-long crocodile had been captured at around 10.30 pm but Wildlife officials had not been able to come to site as they had no fuel in their vehicles. They reached the site the following day riding their personal motorcycles and released the crocodile in the Nachchadoowa Tank reserve.
The officials said due to the drop in the water levels in the tanks the crocodiles wander on land seeking for water bodies.
