Sadeera 105 and Minod 87 knocks in vain as Australia 'A' win by 68 runs

Australia 'A' recorded a 68-run victory over Sri Lanka 'A' in their first unofficial four-day Test match which ended at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Sri Lanka 'A' chasing a target of 318 runs were all out for 249. However, opener Minod Bhanuka 87 (142 balls with 11 fours and 1 six) and Sadeera Samarawickrama 105 (146 balls with 9 fours) made superb knocks but went in vain as the visitors produced a remarkable fightback to record the victory. The Australian 'A' team declared their second innings on their overnight score of 212/5 to set a huge 318-run target for Sri Lanka ' A'.

The 20-year-old leg spinner Tanveer Sangha did most of the damage capturing 4 for 56 while Aaron Hardie and Nathan McAndrew took 3 wickets each.

The two teams will meet in their second and final unofficial Test which commences on June 24.
