A new express train commenced operations on Kelani Valley Line from yesterday (15) catering to the high passenger demand.
The express train will leave the Waga railway station at 6.20 am. It is scheduled to reach Colombo Fort at 8.12 am and return to Waga Railway Station at 4 p.m. from Colombo Fort.
The new express train to Colombo on the Kelani Valley Railway line will reduce the inconvenience caused to the public due to the increasing demand for public transport.
Deputy General Manager (Commerce) of the Railways Department P.S. Polwattage who participated in the inauguration ceremony said that steps will be taken to provide safe parking facilities for passengers close to train stations in the face of increasing number of train commuters due to the increase in fuel prices. Commuters welcomed the introduction of this express train service to the Kelani Valley Railway line.
