National under 19 skipper Dunith Wellalage and paceman Pramod Madushan two uncapped players have been named for the National ODI 21squad for the forthcoming Australian series.

Wellalage the St. Joseph's former skipper performed well at the recently concluded Under 19 world cup and then he was successful at the Emerging team tour in England. He got a chance to play for Sri Lanka ‘A’ team against Australia ‘A and in their first game, he scored a brisk knock of 33 and took two wickets out of three in the Australian ‘A’ innings. Wellalage the useful middle-order batter and leg spinner is a prospect for the National team.

Meanwhile, 28-year-old Theraputta National School Hambantota paceman Promod Madushan Liyanagamage who plays for Tamil Union is among the wickets in this domestic season and has performed well in the National Super league tournament. He was named in Sri Lanka ‘A’ team against Australia ‘A for the second ODI yesterday.

He has performed well taking 4 for 50 in his 8.4-over spell. The inclusion of the two uncapped players Wellalage and Madushan is a brave decision at this stage as they are trying to pick the best players for the next World Cup.

Dasun Shanaka remains captain of the ODI while Dinesh Chandimal and Niroshan Dikwella two wicket keepers are in the 21-player squad. Asitha Fernando who did well in the recent Bangladesh test series, Nuwan Thushara the slinga action bowler with Dushmantha Chameera, Chamika Karunaratne, and Lahiru Madushanka are the pacemen of the squad.
