The Irrigation Department yesterday withdrew the flood warning in the Nilwala River Basin.
The Department said they are withdrawing the flood warning as significant rainfall has not been reported in the Nilwala River Basin during last 24 hours and the high water levels reported in Thalgahagoda, Panadugama, Pirabeddara and Urawa in that river basin have decreased considerably.
The risk of flooding in that river is now considerably receding. If floodwaters remain at present levels in the low-lying areas, such water will also gradually decrease. Therefore, the flood warning issued for the Nilwala River by the Hydrology and Disaster Management Division of the Irrigation Department at 12.30 pm on May 31 is hereby withdrawn, the Department said.
