In view of the economic crisis of the country, the Office of the Kalmunai Regional Director of Health Services has launched several programmes on the theme “Everyone for Everyone” to solve issues in the health sector without utilizing Government funds.

Kalmunai Regional Director of Health Services Dr. I. L. M. Rifas told Eastern Province (EP) Governor Anuradha Yahampath that he drew up several programmes by utilizing the available resources in the province (EP).

Under the scheme, a full survey of hospitals will be carried out by medical personnel in the region to identify the requirements of hospitals and allocate the resources and facilities that are not being utilised in certain hospitals for the use of hospitals and medical institutions which lack these facilities.

RDHS Dr. Rifas said a special scheme named “Resource Mapping” would be launched to identify the various requirements of medical institutions, such as vehicles, drugs, medical equipment, human resources etc.

Meanwhile, it has been observed that some hospitals have failed to utilise the basic facilities provided to them, including vehicles and furniture such as beds, chairs, tables, benches etc. Governor Yahampath also held discussions to find out ways and means of improving the Ayurveda Sector.

Dr. Rifas told the Governor that the varieties of herbal plants required by the Department of Ayurveda can be grown. He said at a time when the country is undergoing an economic downturn and people are facing numerous difficulties, programmes of this nature would definitely help find solutions to their burning issues.

The Eastern Province Governor promised to visit the Kalmunai Region and see the feasibility of the project.
