22,550 packets of rice and 750 packets of milk powder delivered by the Government of Tamil Nadu to Sri Lankans affected by the economic crisis arrived in Vavuniya this morning (June 06).
The Government of Tamil Nadu has provided relief packages including rice and milk powder to the people of Sri Lanka following the economic crisis in Sri Lanka. Measures were taken to supply 22,550 packs of rice and 750 packs of milk powder to the Vavuniya District of the Northern Province.
The Superintendent of Vavuniya Railway Station officially handed over the relief parcels, which arrived in Vavuniya by special train to the District Secretariat. When the relief packages arrived in Vavuniya, the District Secretariat officials took charge and handed them over to the Divisional Secretaries.
Thus 12,315 packs of rice and 452 packs of milk powder have been distributed to the Vavuniya Divisional Secretariat. 4,675 packs of rice and 148 packs of milk powder to the Chettikulam Divisional Secretariat, 3,560 packs of rice and 116 packs of milk powder to the Vavuniya North Divisional Secretariat and 2,000 packs rice and 34 packs of milk powder to the Vavuniya South Divisional Secretariat.
They will be distributed among the villagers through the Grama Seva Niladharis and Development Officers.
