Al-Hamra Maha Vidyalaya, Oluvil beat Faiza Maha Vidyalaya, Akkaraipattu by nine wickets in the final to emerge champions of the Akkaraipattu Educational Zone cricket tournament conducted by the Akkaraipattu Zonal Education Office Sports Unit and held at the Public Playground, Palamunai recently.
This tournament was organized by Akkaraipattu Zonal Education Office Assistant Education Director (Physical Education) S.M. Jameel successfully under the guidance and supervision of Akkaraipattu Zonal Education Director A.M. Rahmathullah.
The cricket tournament was held as a part of Akkaraipattu Educational Zone annual inter - school Sports festival-2022. Akkaraipattu Muslim Central College, Akkaraipattu Faiza Maha Vidyalaya, Addalaichenai An-Noor Maha Vidyalaya, Oluvil Al-Hamra Maha Vidyalaya, Pottuvil Al-Ishraq Maha Vidyalaya and Pottuvil Central College teams from Akkaraipattu Educational Zone took part.
The Oluvil Al-Hambra Maha Vidyalaya and Akkaraipattu Faiza Maha Vidyalaya cricket teams qualified for the final.
Akkaraipattu Faiza MV won the toss and batted first, scored 16 runs in their allocated five overs for loss of seven wickets. In reply Al-Hamra MV, Oluvil, scored 17 runs in 1.4 overs, losing one wicket.
The champion Al-Hamra Maha Vidyalaya, Oluvil at this competition will have to contest at Eastern Provincial cricket competition shortly.
