Fuel supply slow, distribution in three days - CPPBOA

The Ceylon Petroleum Private Bowser Owner’s Association (CPPBOA) yesterday said due to the short supply of fuel distribution from Muthurajawela and Kolonnawa terminals only 10 per cent fuel supply will be carried out at countrywide filling stations during the next two to three days.

CPPBOA, Joint Secretary D.V. Shantha Silva said majority filling stations in all parts of the country including in Colombo  and suburban areas have already stopped supplying fuel to customers.

Quoting Petroleum Minister Kanchana Wijesekara, Shantha Silva said a ship load of fuel in Colombo Harbour has already started pumping fuel to the main terminals at Muthurajawela and Kolonnawa and another two ships with petrol and diesel are due to arrive in the Colombo Harbour during the next two to three days.

He said although customers were repeatedly informed by filling station owners about the present situation many of them were seen in vain waiting in queues near filling stations expecting fuel.
