The National People’s Power (NPP) is of the firm stance that it will not support the new Government formed in collaboration with those who were involved in the Bond and Sugar scams, said NPP MP Vijitha Herath.
He said that this is not a Government formed through the consent of all political parties that are represented in Parliament at present. The MP was speaking to the media at the party headquarters in Battaramulla yesterday.
Harth said some individuals relating to the new Government have already launched a mission to obtain the support of MPs who have not expressed their support to the new Government.
“Several MPs are already prepared to accept ministerial portfolios. We will see more MPs who are working to achieve their narrow political agendas surfacing in the future,” he said. Herath said Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is appointing Committees to provide facilities to the ‘Gota Go Gama’ set up at Galle Face but, there is no Committee appointed to look into the attacks on the ‘Gota Go Gama’ protestors. While condemning the attacks on the houses and properties of MPs’ and former Ministers’ by mobs, Herath said the NPP refutes the allegations levelled against it regarding these attacks.
“As a political movement, we have not led such attacks and we will never do,” he added.
