Tax hike will further burden masses - UNP

The soaring Cost of Living is unbearable to the masses and the impending tax hike will put more burden on them, UNP Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardene said.

The former MP was speaking to a group of lawyers at the Sirikotha UNP headquarters yesterday.

He requested the lawyers to come forward as a team to defend  the young protesters from suppression and threats of the Government.

“We are of the opinion that both the President and the Prime Minister should go home.

The SLFP and the Independent Group try to save the President and demands only the removal of the Prime Minister and Cabinet,” he commented.

He said that only UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has a vision and the capacity to resolve the country’s present crisis.
