Eighteen year old, Sachintha Dissanayake is the present Cricket Captain of the 1st XI team of Dharmaraja College,Kandy for the current season and a student of G.C.E.(A/L) in the Bio Stream.

He is coming from an outstanding family of Cricketers of Dharmaraja and his father Ruwan Dissanayake represented the school as an all-rounder from 1989 to 1991,his elder brother, Kavishka played as a dashing batsman for the school from 2013 to 2015 and thereafter played for the University of Peradeniya for the Faculty of Engineering Cricket team.

Sachintha started his Cricket career in the Under 13 Cricket team under the Coaching of Gamini Debahapuwa and Ananda Wijesekera in the year 2015. In the Under 13 ‘A’ team as a wicket Keeper Batsman he scored Two fifties against Kingswood College and St. Sylvesters’ College and in 2016 he became the Captain of the Under 13 team and scored 428 runs with Five fifties and took 25 victims behind the stumps as a Wicket keeper and received the College Blues. In 2017 in the Under 15 “A’ team he scored 228 runs with Three fifties and a hundred against Vidyartha College(103) and claimed Eighteen Victims behind the stumps. In 2018 as the Captain of the Under 15 team scored over 330 runs with a Century against Maliyadewa Model School and scored two Fifties as well.

Sachintha was selected to the Under 15 District Side by the Central Province Cricket and scored 191 runs in four matches and also claimed Eight victims behind the stumps. He was adjudged the Player of the Tournament” in two games and selected to the Provincial team. Due to Covid epidemic he could not play much in late 2019 and early 2020 and after that in 2021/22 he was appointed as the Captain of the 1st XI Cricket team and he scored a Century against Ananda College to save his side from certain defeat. Apart from that Century he has scored Five Half Centuries i.e. 81 against Maliyadewa, 65 against Dharmapala, 59 against Mahinda, 57 against Kingswood in a Two day match and 69 not out in a one day match also against Kingswood. So far he has scored over 650 runs during the season and his intention is to pursue his studies as well as improve his cricket skills to be a National and International Level player.
